HARRISON HOUSE

For many years, our Duck’s Nest community has supported homeless families and other adults living at the Harrison House, a shelter and transitional housing center just a few blocks away from campus.

Harrison House is just one program run by BOSS, or Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency, a Berkeley-based non-profit organization.  BOSS is dedicated to helping homeless, poor, and disabled people achieve health and self-sufficiency; and to fighting against the root causes of poverty and homelessness.

Each year Duck’s Nest families come together to support our local community by donating food to sponsor a beautiful Thanksgiving meal for the shelter residents, and holiday gifts for the children who live there. We also collect other housewares and toiletries that are needed by the residents.

You will see communications from the DNPA about how to volunteer for this great cause. Volunteering opportunities include: taking inventory, shopping for additional items, gift wrapping and dropping goods off at the Harrison House shelter on 4th street in Berkeley (just a few blocks from Duck's Nest).
